William Mandley and Thirza Read were married at the Methodist New Connection Bethesda Chapel at Albion Street, Shelton, Hanley. After the baptismal of the first child at the Bethesda Chapel, the Mandley family started attending Saint John's Anglican Church, Burslem.

The 1851 census indicates that William and Thirza Mandley with their children resided at Black Hill, Rushton village, Burslem, Staffordshire. William Mandley was a boot and shoe maker. His five children were potters. His elder daughter Emma Lockett was widowed with a daughter of her own. All members of the family were born at Burslem. (HO 107, piece 2003, folio 541, p. 19)

When daughter Ann Mandley was married in December 1856, the marriage certificate states that William Mandley was a potter. In March 1857, daughter Fanny was married, the marriage certificate states that William Mandley was a cordwainer.

In 1861 the British census states that William and Thirza Mandley resided at 10 Bleak Street, Burslem, Staffotdshire. Their daughter and son-in-law Emma and Humphrey Webb resided with them. William Mandley was a shoemaker. Humphrey Webb was a pottery ovenman. Emma Webb was a potter (sconcer). William and Thirza Mandley and Emma Webb were born at Burslem. In 1871, the British census states that Thirza Mandley and her granddaughter Eliza Jane Lockett possibly shared a household with Joseph and Anne Stone. Thirza Mandley had no occupation. Eliza Lockett was a warehouse woman. They lived at 6 Bleak Street, Burslem. They were born in Burslem. (RG 10, piece 2854, folio 15, p. 22)

Thirza Mandley appears in the 1881 British census. She is a widow living possibly as part of the Stone family household. She was a housekeeper. She resided at 24 Granville Bdgs. W.R., Burslem, Staffordshire. She was born at Burslem. (RG 11, piece 2716, folio 110, p. 36)

William Mandley died in 1870, age 63 (Dec 1870 quarter, Wolstanston R.D., v. 6b, p. 91).

On 25 Sep 1825 William married Thirza Rhead, daughter of Jonah Simpson Rhead & Frances/Fanny Baddeley, in Burslem, Staffordshire, England, United Kingdom. The Massey family appear in the 1851 British census. William and Honour Massey with their four children resided at Sneyd Street, Tunstall, Wolstanton, Staffordshire. William Massey was potter employed making cups. Honour Massey's younger brother Ellison Mandley resided with them. He was too was a potter. They were all born at Burslem, Staffordshire. In 1861 according to the 1861 British census, the Massey family resided at 27 China Street, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. William Massey and his sons James and William were potters who made cups. Eliza Massey was a warehousewoman potter while her sister Ellen was a cutter potter. William and Honor Massey along with the elder four children were born at Burslem, Stafforshire while the youngest two were born at Fenton. (RG 9, piece 1940, folio 42, p. 34).

William and Honor Massey resided at 44 China Street, Fenton, Staffordshire according to the 1871 British census. Their youngest two children resided with them. William and Henry Massey were potters who made cups. Daughter Elizabeth Massey was a warehousewoman. William, Honour and Elizabeth Massey were born at Burslem while Henry was born in nearby Tunstall. The Poos/Parr family resided at the village of Milton, Abbey Hulton, Cobridge, Staffordshire. Ambrose and Ellen Durber were potters. 10. Holland Manley (Fletcher Mandley1). Born on 31 Jan 1830 in Burslem, Staffordshire, England, United Kingdom. Holland died in East Liverpool, Columbiana Co., Ohio, U.S.A., on 20 Mar 1922; he was 92.

Holland Manley immigrated to the United States from Burslem, England in 1849 and was naturalized in 1852?.
