Embassage when German Kriegsmarine U-557 torpedoed and sank the steam ship in the North Atlantic Ocean on 27 August 1941. All crew and naval personnel died. Harold Watkinson is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial in Plymouth, Devon, England.21
