After leaving the Royal Air Force, Brian Rogers had two years working as a summer assistant lock keeper on the river Thames before obtaining a permanent position as a relief lock keeper and becoming the resident lock keeper at Osney Lock, Oxfordshire in 1981. At that time his brother in law Roy Dunstan and my son-in-law Kevin Roberts were also Thames lock keepers. We retired in April 1992 and moved onto a narrow boat on which he and his wife Mary Rogers cruised throughout England until 2001. In 2001 they had a 15-metre Dutch Barge built to their requirements and moved to France where they cruised until 2016 when age and health decreed it was time to return to England. Since 2016 they have lived in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
