He served in the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. He received the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. After the War, he lived in Toronto, Ontario before returning to Nova Scotia. He was cook for survey crews with the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forests in the 1960s.
