The birth of John Hiltz appears to be erroneously recordes as John Power, son of John and Mary Power. The Hiltz familr resided with Power / Powers family in the 1865 Massachusetts census.

According to the 1920 United States federal census, the widower John Hiltz with two daughters resided at 8 Rockledge Street, Roxbury, Massachusetts. His widowed mother-in-law Annie Hickey lived in the household. Catherine Grace was a lodger in the houseold. Marion Hiltz was a pianist in a gynmasium. Catherine Grace worked in a cap factory. Nellie Hiltz died at the Dudley Street Elevated Station, Boston, Massachusetts. She died from chronic cardiac lesion, probably valvular.

The 1900 United States federal census states that William B. and Mary McDonald with six children resided at 11 Arthur Street, Gloucester, Massachusetts. They owned their home on which they had a mortgage. Mary McDonald had given birth to twelve children of whom six were living. William B. McDonald was a master mariner. William McDonald was a fisherman. John McDonald was a fish skinner. William B. McDonald immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1869 and was natruralized. William McDonald died at sea on 26 January 1903 when the schooner Alva sank on George’s Bank.17
