Rodney Lantz, service no. 3180298, was a private in the 2nd Battalion of the Eastern Ontario Regiment. He died on 27 September 1918 which was the first day of the Battle of the Canal du Nord (27 September - 1 October 1918). Rodney Lantz was “Previously reported Wounded and Missing, now for official purposes presumed to have Died”. He “Had crossed the Canal du Nord with his Company, and was waiting in shell hole awaitiong the command to advance. Shortly afterwards the Company advanced and Private Lantz was not seen again and no information has since bben received concerning him”.169. His death is commemorated on the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, Vimy, Pas-de-Calais, France.
