Harold Broome was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in England and Italy as a member of the 88th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery of the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was captured in the Po Valley, Italy in October of 1944, and spent the remainder of the war in a German Prisoner of War Camp. Upon returning to Canada, he took up carpentry and finished his working career as a janitor at New Ross Consolidated School at New Ross, Nova Scotia. He was a member of Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, past president and life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 79, past master of Norwood Lodge 135 Ancient Free and Accepted Mason and past district grand chaplain of Lunenburg and Queens districts of the Masons.43
