At a young age he was lovingly given the nickname “Smiling Jim” as he was able to liven up any party or gathering with his musical talents, and he continued to share that same spirit in his retirement years as a volunteer playing the piano at the Wrentham Senior Center and Pond Home Assisted Living Facility in Wrentham, Massachusetts.82

The majority of her career was at The Sharon Country Day School and ended at The Temple Nursery School in Norwood in Norwood, Massachusetts.

A longtime resident of Sharon, until her move to Wrentham, Massachusetts in 2006, Shelah Hiltz was highly active in the Sharon Community. She was active with the recreation department and all of their youth and teen activities, she designed and created the costumes for the annual play performed by the Sharon Seniors On the Go, and, as a member of the 4th of July Committee, she designed, engineered and organized the building of many floats and costumes for the annual 4th of July parade. She was a Boy Scout Leader, a Campfire Girls Leader, and willing member to any committee that needed her assistance or creative flare. She worked hard and she played hard.
