Norwood was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (R.C.M.P.) for 28 years. He was stationed in various areas of Newfoundland and New Brunswick. He moved to Hampton, New Brunswick in 1972 where he was the N.C.O. in charge of the Hampton R.C.M.P. Detachment. Following retirement from the R.C.M.P. in 1985, he worked for four years at Saint John Shipbuilding and Industrial Security. He was a member of the Retired R.C.M.P. Veterans' Association, Royal Canadian Legion Hampton Branch no. 28, and a former member of Hampton Seniors Resource Centre. He was a former curler and for many years skipped the R.C.M.P. New Brunswick rink at the R.C.M.P. National Curling Championships.43
