Dennis J. Barry enlisted in the Canadian Army in December 1915 and served in the Canadian Expeditonary Forces during the Firat World War. He was a lance corporal (service no. 733655) in the 25 Battalion of the Canadian Infantry. He was killed in action on 12 December 1918.80 His unit was in or near Tilloy-les-Cambrai, Nord, France in the aftermath the Second Battle of Cambrai (8 - 10 October 1918) when Canadian forces took the town of Cambrai and its surrounding villages. The war diaries for the 25th Canadian Infantry Battalion indicate that on 12 October 1918 his unit was in or near Paillencourt and Estrun a few kilometres east of Tilloy-les-Cambrai.
