Theodora McKiel was a nursing sister in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps during the First World War. She enlisted in the Canadian Army on 25 September 1914 at Québec City, Québec and served in the No. 2 General Hospital at Salisbury Plain, Durrington, Wiltshire, England (1914-1915) and Le Treport, Siene-Maritime, France (1915-1917) and No. 13 General Hospital at Hastings, Suffolk, England (1917-1918). Theodora McKiel was graduate nurse. She served during the duration of the First World War. On 21 June 1918 she was awarded the Royal Red Cross 2nd Class. Rudolf McKiel, service no. 22764, was a private in the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (Eastern Ontario Division) of the Canadian Expedionary Forces in the First World War. He was killed in action on the Ypres Salient on 16 April 1915, a few days before beginning of the Second Battle of Ypres. His body was never recovered. Rudolf McKiel is comemmorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Ieper / Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.80
