Circumstantial evidence suggests that the Abigail Whynot who was the daughter of Henry Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Foster) Whynot was the same person who was married to William Gaul. There appears to be no record of a marriage between William Gaul and Abigail (Abbie) Whynot, but the registered births of some of their children give Whynot as Abigail Gaul’s maiden name. Also, Joseph Henry Whynot who was the elder brother of Abigail Whynot resided at Inglisville and Lawrencetown area of Annapolis County where the family of William and Abigail Gaul also lived. The 1911 Canadian federal census shows that her mother Elizabeth Whynott lived in the household of her daughter and son-in-law Maude and John Meldon.
