Irvin Stanford died in At Sea on the schooner Harvey W. Adams, on 9 Jan 1961; he was 41.108 Occupation: Fidherman.

The engineer of the fishing schooner Harry W. Adams, Irvin Knickle, Blue Rocks, disappeared from the deck of his ship on Monday night [9 January 1961], on the way to the Banks. The schooner was just off Sambro Lightship about 9:30 p.m. Irvin Knickle was getting buoy lights ready for the next day's fishing and placing them in the wheel house. Stewart Demone was at the wheel at the time when Knickle came in with a couple lights. Demone remarked that it was cold and suggested that he should step inside and warm up a bit. Knickle told him that he had a little more work to do. He shut the wheel house door and that was the last time he was seen. He was missed about ten minutes later and the vessel turned around and searched for part of the night, later returning to port arriving at Lunenburg, Nova Scotia about 9:30 yesterday morning [10 January 1961]. It is thought Knickle fell overboard. At the time of the disappearance the weather was fine, the wind blowing about 12 miles per hour. Captain Warren Corkum, the skipper of the vessel, ordered the ship back to port to report the incident.108
