Philip Wamboldt studied for and become a certified real estate appraiser. He was part owner of Kempton Appraisals of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. He had an early interest in viniculture leading to the establishment of the Petite Riviere Vineyards of Crousetown, Nova Scotia. Through his skills and devotion to the art, he and his wife, Carol Slack Wamboldt, began planting rows upon rows of grape vines, expanding each year to establish a commercially viable crop. They opened the winery in the spring of 2004 in a building they built themselves. He was also a member of the Grape Growers Association, and the Winery Association. Philip Wamboldt always had a love of music, and could make the piano sing.49
