Victor Greek started his career in the meat business at the age of 11 years when he worked part-time in his uncle’s meat shop in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. After getting married and moving to Halifax, Nova Scotia, he joined the Canadian Army in 1939 serving during the Second World War. When he opened his own shop in Dutch Village Road in Halifax, he continued to make pudding [meat] and sausage. Later, he moved to Bridgewater, Nova Scotia with his wife and family and manufactured in his own plant while he was employed at South End Grocery. In 1970 he moved his business to its present [2005] location at 280 St. Phillips Street, Bridgewater, where it is still in operation having been taken over by his sons in 1991. He was a very successful and a well respected businessman. He had a passion for planes and flying. He was a member of the Liverpool Flying Club and owner of several small aircraft. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch. 24, Bridgewater.77
