After retirement in 1986, she became active in community affairs. She served on the Board of Trustees for the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia for seven years, was a part-time driver of the Willow Lodge seniors bus in Tatamagouche for six years, was an active member of the hospital auxiliary, secretary-treasurer of the Middleton Union Church in MIddleton, Nova Scotia and the Denmark Community Hall and secretary of the Forest Hill Cemetery Association in Denmark, Nova Scotia.
