In retirement, he held various jobs over the years including limo driver, ski resort worker, and funeral home attendant.
Through his life, Alfred Herget was very involved within his community of Westford, Massachusetts. He served as president of Westford Youth Hockey, president of Northeast Circuits Association (NECA), Past President of Northeastern University Taylor Society, was a Mason, and a member of the Westford Finance Committee. Throughout his years, he coached youth hockey, baseball, and was coach of the Lowell, Massachusetts Junior Chiefs (17-21 year olds).
