Bruce Hansen graduated from University of New Hampshire with a degree in geology. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army. He served his country in Panama, becoming a paratrooper and obtaining his small plane pilot’s license. He returned home to Haverhill, Massachusetts to the farm where he began Hansen’s Christmas Tree Farm. Bruce Hensen took great pride in his trees, winning several awards at the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, Massachusetts. He was a hydrologist with the United States Geological Survey for over 40 years. He then held a similar position with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation until his retirement in 2015. He was an avid model train enthusiast. (Lawrence Eagle-Tribune)
