Cornelius Hyson was a weathervane maker. Nancy Coffin was a tailoress. Cornelius and Bessey Hyson immigrated to the United States from Nova Scotia. They owned their home on which they had a mortgage. Elizabeth Hyson had given birth to four children by 1900 of whom two were still living. Cornelius Hyson was a glass setter. He immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1868 and was naturalized. Elizabeth Hyson immigrated to the United States in 1871 and was not naturalized. James Hyson was a civil engineer for a railroad. Cornelius Hyson immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1869 and was naturalized. Elizabeth Hyson immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1868 and was not naturalized. Sarah Young to the United States from Canada in 1869. She lived in the household of her son and daughter-in-law James and Edna Hyson. Elizabeth Hyson immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1868 and was naturalized in 1872. She lived in the household of her son and daughter-in-law James and Edna Hyson. Elizabeth Hyson immigrated to the United States in 1871 and was naturalized. In Jun 1870 Elizabeth Emma married Cornelius Hyson, son of John Heyson & Anna Mary Robert, in Brighton, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, U.S.A.18 Born on 8 Mar 1841 in Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America.7,18 Cornelius was baptized in Lunenburg, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America, on 22 Apr 1841.7 Cornelius died in Melrose, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, U.S.A., on 8 Nov 1910; he was 69.18 Buried on 10 Nov 1910 in Melrose, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, U.S.A.18 Occupation: Porter, Commercial Traveller, Merchant, Weather Vane Maker.

Cornelius Heyshon resided in Lunenburg, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia according to the 1871 Canadian federal census. He was a servant to the widow Sophia Harris and lived in her household. He was an Anglican. (RG 31-C-1, 1871, Nova Scotia, Lunenburg Co., ED 195-F1, Lunenburg, p. 12)

Cornelius Hyson moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1864 yet is enumerated in the 1871 Canadian ferderal census. He appears in the Boston Directory for the years 1864-73 and 1877-85., in the Cambridge Directory for the years 1873-74, and the Somerville Directory for the year 1886. He is not listed in any Boston area directories for the years 1874-76; he may have returned temporarily to Nova Scotia. He resided at various addresses in Boston from 1864 to 1872 with the exception of Cambridgeport in 1866. In 1873 and 1874 he (and his family) lived in Cambridge. In 1875 when their daughter Bessie died, Cornelius and Bessie Hyson resided on Prescott Street, Somerville. While in Boston from 1877 to 1885, he and his family resided at 8 Edinboro Street. In terms of employment, he was a porter at 64 Chatham St., Boston from 1864 to 1868. From 1869 to 1874 he was in business for himself. His company was Cornelius Hyson & Co., which appears to have been operated with his brother James William Hyson. The company was located at 122 Commercial St., Boston from 1869 to 1871 and at 214 State St., Boston from 1872 to 1874. He was a commission merchant. When Cornelius Hyspon re-appears in Boston in 1877, he was a weathervane-maker at 111 Kingston St., Boston from 1877 to 1878 and at 54 Bromfield St., Boston from 1879 to 1883. In 1884 Cornelius Hyson was a real estate agent with the firm of Bacon & Hyson.

Cornelius Hyson died from carcinoma of the liver.
