Født: Oluf Nielsen, 1535, Kollerup sogn, (Ukendt) Herred, (Ukendt) Amt som søn af Niels Eskesen Bonde
Død: 1570, Borup
Begravet: 1570
Men Oluf Nielsen må have været en agtet storbonde i Borup
Translation: He was married no later than 1560, but his wife's name and origin are not known. She was probably born before 1540. It is not known how many children that they had is not known; only the son Eske Olufsen is known.
On the other hand, we can thank Oluf Nielsen for something completely different, it was him and his brother Christen who, on 4 July 1570 (the second day after our Lady's Day), had 15 younger and older family documents read. The documents, they had been given by their close relative Christen Jensen Tanderup. The documents were again read at Han herreds council meeting on 31 July 1671, when Vogn Mikkelsen in Borup had them presented. The 15 old letters consisted, in addition to the nobility letter from 1430 for Eske Jensen and Christen Jensen, of 8 letters regarding the ownership of Borup in Kollerup parish, etc., as well as 6 letters about lot and share in Slette Mølle (Mill) in Hjortdal Parish, namely the family's progenitor Else Griss's inheritance. It is solely on the basis of these letters, which the two brothers collected in 1570, that we can today trace our family back to the end of the 1300s, namely to the time of Queen Margrethe and Eric of Pomerania.
Although Oluf Nielsen descended in the same paternal line from Eske Jensen, who in 1430 was ennobled, received a letter of freedom/arms from the union king Erik of Pomerania, the family's nobility was lost, most recently at the Reformation in 1536. But Oluf Nielsen must have been a respected large farmer in Borup. Oluf Nielsen and his brothers are mentioned in several documents. In 1516, Vogn Nielsen had demanded Palle Griis at Slettegaard for his and his co-heirs' share in Slette Mølle, and in 1517 Christen Nielsen had demanded Palle Griis for an annual tax of 1 pd. flour, which Christen and his siblings were entitled to. In the same year (1517), Vogn Nielsen had witnesses taken that Else Griisdatter (their grandmother) had been promised 1 pd. flour annually by Slette Mølle. In 1530, an exchange of relatives or arbitration had been held between Vogn Nielsen, Christen Nielsen and their brothers on the one hand and Niels Poulsen (their father's cousin) on the other regarding inheritances in Borup, Hingelbjerg, Aalborg, Klim and Reffnehøll. Among the co-relatives in 1530, Vogn Pedersen in Kgs Thisted and Vogn Lauridsen in Gedsted are mentioned. In 1538 it had come to an arbitration case between Peder Nielsen and Christen Nielsen in Borup, brothers, on the one hand and Niels Griss in Slette on the other. The two brothers in Borup and their co-heirs were then awarded parts of Slette Mølle as their grandmother Else Griisdatter's inheritance. In the Clements feud, Peder Nielsen and Vogn Nielsen in Borup lost their farm, but bought it back and in 1544 paid the usury master Jørgen Pedersen 200 dlr. less 34 dlr. for this estate.
In 1541, Christen Nielsen and Peder Nielsen, both in Borup, together with Niels Griis in Slette and Anders Ibsen in Hjortdal, were among the relatives at the time of the change after the bailiff in Hvetbo herred, Lars Mørk in Saltumgaard, died about 1534. The connection between the Borup families of Griss and Mørk were old because on 11 March1470 Eske Bonde in Borup, Anders Bonde in Kornum, Jes Mørk in Saltum and Ylfar Eskesen in Brøndum had already been present at Hjortdal cemetery when Anders Griis had received a parish witness.
