The Beers family of Lot 50, Prince Edward Island is a United Empire Loyalist family descended from Joseph Beers of Sussex County, New Jersey. Joseph Beers was a member of the Fifth Battalion of New Jersey Volunteers and later the King’s Rangers. He settled on Prince Edward Island with his first wife Mary Barton. His second wife Margaret Hayden was the daughter of Loyalist settlers. The origins of Joseph Beers is Sussex County, New Jersey have not been fully established.
