Leslie Rupert Leplaw served in the Australian Army during the First World War. The AIF Project database of the Univ. of New South Wales states that he was a motor mechanic who resided at "Minden", Forsythe Street, South Kensington, NSW at the time of enlistment on 25 September 1916. He was 22 years old, a member of the Church of England and married. His next of kin was recorded as his wife Annie Leplaw of the same address. He had previous military service in the 28th infantry. He had the rank of driver in the Auxiliary Mechanical Transport Company 2, section 2 . He was assigned to the 4th Divional Supply Company. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on the HMAT A34 Persic on 22 December 1916. He returned to Australia on 10 January 1918.
