In 1871, the British census states that Thirza Mandley and her granddaughter Eliza Jane Lockett possibly shared a household with Joseph and Anne Stone. Thirza Mandley had no occupation. Eliza Lockett was a warehouse woman. They lived at 6 Bleak Street, Burslem. They were born in Burslem. (RG 10, piece 2854, folio 15, p. 22)
The 1881 British census states that James Kelsall and his family resided at Fishergate, Ferry Fryton, Yorkshire. With the exception of Florence Kelsall who was born at Ferrybridge, Yorkshire, the family members were all born at Hanley, Staffordshire. James Kelsell was a potter kilnman. The family moved to Ferry Fryston about 1878 or 1879 and returned to Hanley about 1883 or 1884.
James Kelsall and his family resided at 63 Boxley Street, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire according to the 1891 British census. James Kelsall was a widower and a potter's glazier. Humphrey Kelsall was a general labourer and his bother Charles was a potter. James Kelsall's mother widowed mother Ellen resided them as well as his nephew Josiah Kelsall. James Kelsall, most of the children and his nephew were born at Hanley. His son Arthur was born at Ferrybridge, Yorkshire. Ellen Kelsall was born at Offley, Staffordshire.
