Iver Paulsen was a member of the Paulsen String Quartet in the late 1920s. He played the 2nd violin and replaced his cousin Florence Paulsen in the quartet. The other members of the quartet at the time he played were his father and Uncles Iver and John Paulsen. The quartet broke apart when John Paulsen was killed in a car accident in 1936.

During the Depression Iver Paulsen worked for Atlantic Gelatin at Woburn, Massachusetts. With the outbreak of the Second World War, he obtained a civilian job with the Department of War. He was attached to the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army and was trained to repair radars. His training took him to Sandy Hook, New Jersey after which he was stationed in Boston, Mass. His position also required travel to facilities along the East Coast. After the war Hans Iver Paulsen continued to work in the electronics shop of the South Boston [Mass.] Navy Yard Annex until that was phased out in the late 1940s. In 1949 he obtained a position at the Ford automobile factory in Somerville, Mass. and remained there until that was shut down in 1957. His last position before retirement was at Harvard University where he worked as an electronic electrician until 1973.
Iver Paulsen was literate in Danish.

Norman Paulsen attended Bentley College (now University) in Waltham, Massachusetts and graduated with a degree in accounting. He was public accountant and conducted his business in downtown Woburn, Massachusetts until 1988. He served on the Woburn City Council. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Woburn and the First Ciongregation Churh for which he served on their Investment Board. He was also a member of Mount Horeb Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Woburn and of the Aleppo Temple Shriners of Wilmington, Massachusetts.
Norman Paulsen and his family resided in Woburn, Massachusetts until 1988 when he moved to Laconia, New Hampshire. In Laconia, he continued his accounting practice and was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church where he sang in the choir.
