Born in 1924 in Martin’s River, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, Canada. Francis J. died in Truro, Colchester Co., Nova Scotia, Canada, on 29 Nov 2004; he was 80.47
Francis Hiltz was a veteran of the Second World War having served in the Royal Canadian Army Services Corps. He was employed with the Borden Company Ltd. as a bookkeeper in Truro, Nova Scotia, and before his retirement he worked at the Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre as a counselor and cook. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Truro, a past usher, teller, cubmaster, session and Sunday school teacher. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 26 with more than 45 years of service having served as past secretary, sergeant-at-arms, on the executive for 10 years, chairman of 10 committees and received the meritorious service medal award from the Dominion Command Legion. He was past secretary and quartermaster of the Corps of Imperial Frontiersmen with the rank of Lieutenant. He was past secretary treasurer of Intermediate Baseball, minor and twilight. He was also past secretary of Boy Scouts Executive Council, chairman of Apple Day, involved in calendar sales, finance committee, organization and expansion, and received an Honorary Award from the Truro Executive Council with 35 years of service. He was past treasurer of the Diabetes Association, Psoriasis Foundation and member of the Army, Navy & Air Force Club Unit 387, Truro, as treasurer and chairman of membership and entertainment. He was also past secretary and treasurer of Region No. 9, N.S.G. Employment, Retirement Association and secretary and member of the Good Neighbours and Sunset Singers.47
Francis J. married Judith MacDonald. Born in 1922. Judith died in 1971; she was 49.
