Everett Young was a lineman with Martitime Telegraph and Telephone at the time of enlistment. At the time of marriage in 1941, Everett Young was in Halifax, Nova Scotia in the Canadian Active Service Force (later the Canadian Army).10 He joined the 2nd Battalion of the West Nova Scotia Regiment on 1 August 1940 and was transferred to the 10th Searchlight Battery of the Royal Canadian Artillery as a gunner on 13 November 1940. He was promoted to sergeant on 2 April 1941. On 13 November 1941, he was sent to Brockville, Ontario for Officer’s Training School. Before departing Sussex, New Brunswick for the United Kingdom, Lt. Everett Young was transferred to British Army and assigned to the 7th Battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs, Duke of Albany’s) on 17 September 1944. Lt. Everett Young, service number CDN/667, was attached to the Seathforth Highlanders when he was wounded in action and died in Germany. He is buried in the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, Groesbeek, Gelderland, Netherlands.142
