Art Hiltz spent the first years of his working life with the Canadian National Railway in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He then moved into the insurance industry and resided in Truro and East Mountain, Nova Scotia until 1999, when he and his wife Marjorie moved to their dream location of Elliot Lake, Algoma District, Ontario. Art Hiltz was a member of the Truro Kinsmen and K40 clubs, the Fundy Trail Snowmobile Club, and the Life Underwriters Association of Canada, as well as a 50 year member of the Truro Lodge No. 43, A.F. & A.M.44
