Ray Wagner was a member of the Masonic Union Lodge No. 7 in Grimsby, Ontario. He had a 35 year police career and was President of the Grimsby Police Association for years. He served with the Niagara Regional Police where, in addition to a number of commendations, he received an award for bravery for a rescue made from a burning building. He retired from the Region in 1991 and was able to devote even more time to his lifelong community work, especially his advocacy for children, and those who worked for their rights. He was involved in the Community Family Treatment Programme at Chedoke-McMaster Hospitals for 23 years and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Youth Services Niagara for more than two decades where he and Pansy were honoured by the naming of a youth home in Fonthill as "The Ray and Pansy “Pat” Wagner Home". Ray Wagner also volunteered at Chedoke-McMaster events for children, including picnics, Christmas hampers, summer camps, fundraising, organizing and supervising day bus trips to the Tim Horton Camp for underprivileged kids in Parry Sound, Ontario.
