He was a life-long member of the Halls Harbour United Baptist Church where he played a critical role in obtaining the Veteran's Memorial Stone to commemorate those who fought for their country. In addition to his involvement in the Halls Harbour United Baptist Church, he took great pride in his nineteen years of service to the Halls Harbour District Volunteer Fire Department as a director.213
