She was a member of the New Ross and Sherwood Baptist churches, and attended St. John's Anglican Church in Chester Basin, Nova Scotia during her married life. For 38 years, she was a fundraiser for the Canadian Red Cross and also collected for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and Canadian Cancer Society.246
