John Whynot was born as John Fielding, son of Joseph Fielding / Freiden / Freitag and his wife Frances Barbara Allen. Frances Fielding married Benjamin Weinacht (Whynot) at the Dutch Reformed Church in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia on 30 December 1830. Benjamin Weinacht was 25 years old at the time of his marriage to Frances Fielding. Benjamin Weinacht was 10 years old when John Fielding / Whynot was born and therefore Benjamin Weinacht could not possibly be the father. Apparently John Fielding adopted Whynot as his surname. Subsequently, the descendants of John Fielding Whynot have the surname Whynot rather than Fielding.

John married Mary Jemima Feindel, daughter of Johannes (John) Feindel & Sarah Wiegel. Born on 2 Jan 1829 in Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America.13 Mary Jemima was baptized in Lunenburg, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America, on 17 Apr 1829.2 Mary Jemima died in New Germany, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, Canada, on 4 Oct 1911; she was 82.8

The 1901 Canadian federal census states that Cyrus and Elizabeth Whynot resided in the Chesley Corner census district, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. A widower named James Lauglin resided with them as a lodger. Cyrus Whynot was a farmer. He and his wife were Baptists while the lodger was Roman Catholic. She had given birth to nine children by 1910 of whom all were living. Mary A.Turner immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1903 and was not naturalized. Mary Ann married Thomas Alfred Turner, son of William John Turner & Anna Barbara Salzmann. Born on 11 Oct 1831 in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America.2 Thomas Alfred was baptized in Lunenburg, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America, on 2 Dec 1831.2 Thomas Alfred died in North Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, U.S.A., on 3 Jun 1907; he was 75.17 Buried on 6 Jun 1907 in North Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, U.S.A.17

Thomas Turner died from gangrene of the leg.
