Born in 1938 in Wolfville, Kings Co., Nova Scotia, Canada. William Frederick Stephen died in Kentville, Kings Co., Nova Scotia, Canada, on 13 Dec 2008; he was 70.

William Wade graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1960. Following graduation, he taught at the Mount Royal High School in Montréal, Québec for two years. I n the fall of 1962, he rejoined the family grocery business which he developed into a chain of independent grocery stores across the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. His business activities were many and varied. A partial list of his business involvements include president of M.A. Wade Holdings Ltd., New Minas Enterprises Ltd., and F.E. Wade Holdings Ltd. He was director and founding partner of the Annapolis Valley's first cable television system, director of Coldbrook Developments Ltd., past chairman of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, and past director of National Sea Products Ltd. More recently, Bill Wade served as director of Nova Learning Corp., the company responsible for the construction and operation of several schools across the province. Some of his community activities have included coaching minor baseball teams, serving as secretary for Group Committee for Cubs and Scouts, vice-president of Provincial Committee for the Canadian Association for the Mentally Challenged (Nova Scotia), treasurer for the Cornwallis United Church Pastoral Charge (22 years), past-president of the Kentville Development Corporation, past-president of the Wolfville Development Corporation, and member on the Kentville Community Economic Development Commission. He served as a vice-president of the Nova Scotia Liberal Association in 1974 and 1975, and served as president of the Nova Scotia Liberal Association in 1986 and 1987. Bill Wade was a member of the Kings County Municipal Reform Advisory Committee, a member of the Board of Governors of Kings Edgehill School, trustee of the Western Kings Memorial Hospital, and co-chair for the Nova Scotia Liberal Constitution Commission Review in 1994-95. Heserved on the Board of Governors of Acadia University from 1994 to 2000. During this time he served on numerous board committees including the Executive Committee, the Property Committee, the Fundraising Committee (as Chair) and the Environmental Issues Committee.
