The parish register of Zion Lutheran Church in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia refers to Isac Salzmann as the father of Casper Friedrich Salzmann (N.S.A., MG 4, vol 88). The place of origin in recorded as "Malchs", Mecklenburg. The closest spelling of "Malchs" is Malchin, but a review of the Malchin parish records revealed no Salzmann family in that community. Other possible communities in the historical Duchy of Mecklenburg are Malchow and Melzow (Malzow).
