According to the 1891 British census, John, Ann and their son Samuel Le Pla resided at Back Road, Wisbech St. Mary, Cambridgeshire. John and Samuel Le Pla were agricultural labourers. John Le Pla was born at March, Cambridgeshire. Ann Le Pla was born at Wisbech [St. Peter]. Samuel Le Pla was born in the parish. William and Sarah Le Pla immigrated to the United States shortly after marrying in the fall of 1866. Their first and subsequent children were aopparently born in Ohio between 1869 and 1878. About 1879 they moved to Grrenleaf township, Saniliac Co., Mich. The family has not yet been located in the 1870 U.S. federal census.

The 1880 U.S. federal census indicates that the Leplay family resided at Greenleaf township, Sanilac Co., Mich. William and Sarah Leplay were born in England while the children were born in Ohio according to the census. William Leplay was a farmer. (T9-605, ED 332, p. 170)

In 1866 William married Sarah Jones or Marrilt in Cambridgeshire, England, United Kingdom. Born abt 1846.
