He served in the army during the duration of the war. During the Second World War, George Frost was a lieutenant in the Home Guard. When he died in 1945, he was buried with full military honours at Birchwood Lane Methodist Chapel, Somercotes. Elizabeth Frost was later buried with him.

As a gunner, John William was not likely involved in direct combat. It is not known if he died from war-related wounds or from disease.
