Samuel was a resident of the Union Workhouse in Huntingdon by 1845. The records of the workhouse for 1845 and 1846 indicate that he was infirm. He was still there at the time of his death. The records of the workhouse in 1848 indicate he was there because of old age. He died at the Union Workhouse in Huntingdon.
