Dorothea Marie Sorensen acquired a United States passport (no. 39390) on 2 November 1916 for the purposes of travelling to Southern Africa as a missionary for the Scandinavian Alliance Mission of North America. She left the United States on 23 December 1916. She initially worked in Swaziland from January 1917 to September 1920. From September 1920 to January 1924 she was at Ubombo, Zululand (Natal), South Africa. She applied for a new passport on 7 January 1924 at the United States Consulate at Durban, Natal, South Africa. Presumably she remained at Ubombo until she died in 1954.

Born on 6 Oct 1885 in København, Denmark. Rasmus (Robert) died in Chester, Delaware Co., Pennsylvania, U.S.A., on 28 Nov 1977; he was 92.

Paul Kirkegaard Sorensen enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Winnipeg, Manitoba on 3 November 1917. His Attestation Paper stated that his next of kin was Dorthea Sorenson, 8 Gours Ave, Medford, Mass. He indicated that he was a painter. He was 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a fair complexion, blue eyes and light hair. The attestation further indicates that he had normal 20/20 vision. He was Baptist. At the time of enlistment, he resided at the Vendome Hotel, Seattle, Washington.

Paul K. Sorensen resided at 81 Belmont Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts according to the 1910 U.S. federal census. He was a boarder in the household of Margaret Landrigan.
