Born on 18 Apr 1931 in Liverpool, Queens Co., Nova Scotia, Canada. Cecil Eugene died in Yarmouth, Yarmouth Co., Nova Scotia, Canada, on 24 Feb 2017; he was 85.
Cecil Roy worked as a laborer on the boats with the Mersey Paper Mill in Queens County, Nova Scotia prior to his military service. In 1953 he enlisted as a private in the Black Watch Battalion of the Canadian Army. He served in the Korean War. He was honorably released from the Army as lance corporal. He remained a member of the Black Watch of Canada Association. He later became a 3rd Class Engineer at Canadian Forces Station Barrington at Baccaro, Nova Scotia and ended his career as Commissionaire in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He was a proud Canadian who was a member of Cornwallis Historical Association, Canadian Merchant Navy Association, Lester B. Pearson Canadian International Peace Keeping Training Centre, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 [past President]. He spent his retirement years volunteering at the Lions Club and the Navy League of Canada. One of his biggest accomplishments was the erection of the Korean War Memorial in Yarmouth where he was in charge of the Remembrance Day Services in Yarmouth.
