John Melchoir Heyson appears in the 1866/67 Nova Scotia Directory and is listed as a farmer at Mahone Bay.

John Melchior and Anne Hyson appear in the 1871 Canadian federal census (Lunenburg 195-H2, p. 13, no. 13 [house 44, family 55]).  It appears that they lived with members of Anne's family.  John Melchoir Hyson was a farmer.  He is listed as Presbyterian, while she is listed as Anglican.  He owned 105 acres of which 32 were improved, 15 in pasture and one in orchard.  Additionally he owned one house, one barn, two carriages/sleighs, two waggons/sleds, one plough, one horse, one colt/fillie, two milch cows, five other horned cattle, and two swine.  In terms of agricultural production, the farm produced 26 bushels of barley, 11 bushels of oats, two bushels of peas, one bushel of beans, 50 bushels of potatoes, three bushels of turnips, 10 bushels of mangelwurzel (beets), 10 bushels of carrots, 10 tons of hay from 10 acres, 18 pounds of flax, 30 bushels of apples, two cords of Tan bark, 50 spruce logs, 120 pounds of butter, and eight pounds of wool in 1870.  Seven sheep and one swine were slaughtered or sold for slaughter.
                       
Anne Hyson appeared in the 1881 federal census (Lunenburg 11-C2, p. 46 [house 208, family 240]).  She is listed as a widow and an Anglican.  A Sophia Hyson also lived there; she may be the Sophia who appears as Sophia Robar in the 1871 census.  In 1881 she is age 52 while in 1871 she is age 40.  Also a Sarah (age 28) and a James (age 40) Hyson resided with Anne.  James was a farmer and they were both Presbyterian.  [They do not appear to fit into the Heyson/Hyson family.]  They had a servant, Rachel Bishop (age 18).

They had no children.

Born on 14 Mar 1816 in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America.3 Elizabeth Sophia was baptized in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America, in Apr 1816.3 Elizabeth Sophia died in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, Canada, on 28 Nov 1884; she was 68.14

On 14 May 1842 Elizabeth Sophia married Benjamin Werling in Lunenburg, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America. Born in 1804 in Halifax, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia, British North America. Benjamin died in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, Canada, on 8 Jun 1876; he was 72.15

Benjamin and Sophia Werling resided in the Mahone Bay census district, Lunenburg county, Nova Scotia according to the 1871 Canadian federal census. They lived in the household of her brother and sister-in-law Casper and Delila Heyson. Benjamin Werling was a sailmaker. They were Presbyterians and were literate. The 1881 Canadian federal census states that the widow Sophia Varling resided in the Blockhouse densus district, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. Born on 29 Mar 1819 in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America. Johann Casper died in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, Canada, on 4 Jan 1889; he was 69.

On 5 May 1848 Johann Casper married Delilah Ernst (145) , daughter of 62. Johann Peter Ernst & Catherine Ann Martin, in Lunenburg, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America. Born on 12 Sep 1817 in Clearland, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, British North America.

Caspar Heyson appears in the 1861 Nova Scotia census. The household consisted of three people: one married male age 40-50; one married female age 40-50; and one single female age 5-10. The census states that there were two females over age 15 who could not write. [It appears that that there was one child, but the age is unclear. Having been married in 1848, the age of 5-10 years seems more appropriate for their possible child.] Caspar owned six acres of cultivated intervale valued at NSD 300 and nine acres of cultivated upland valued at NSD 12. He also owned two neat cows, one milch cow, six sheep and one pig. In terms of agricultural production, the farm produced four tons of hay, 30 bushels of barley, four bushels of oats, 30 bushels of potatoes, five bushels of turnips, six bushels of other roots, eight bushels of apples, 55 yards of cloth, and 50 pounds of butter. The 1871 Canadian federal census states that Caspar and Delilah Heyson resided in the Mahone Bay census district, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. His sister and brother-in-law Sophia and Benjamin Werling lived in the household. Casper Heyson was a farmer. Benjamin Werling was a sailmaker. The two families were Presbyterians. Casper and Delila Heyson could read only while Benjamin and Sophia Werling were literate. (Lunenburg 195-H1, p. 14, no. 8 [house 37, family 49]). He was a farmer. They were both listed as Presbyterian and could read only. Caspar Heyson owned 22.5 acres of which 15 were improved and seven in pasture. Additionally he owned two waggons, one boat, two ploughs, two working oxen, two milch cows, one other horned cattle, four sheep and one swine. In terms of agricultural production, the farm produced 10 bushels of barley, eight bushels of oats, five bushels of turnips, five bushels of mangelwurzel (beets), five tons of hay from five acres, eight bushels of apples, 120 pounds of butter, nine pounds of wool, and 10 yards of cloth in 1870. The 1881 Canadian federal census states that Gaspar and Delilah Hyson resided in the Blockhouse densus district, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. His widowed sister Sophia Varling lived in the household. Fifteen-year-old William Mader lived in the household. Gasper Hyson was a farmer. They were Presbyterians.
