Do by those presents Make Known to all Men that on the Twenty Nienth day of May, in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Six at Lunenburg, Before John Creighton Esquire, Judge of Wills and Probates, Lawfully Constituted, The Last Will and Testament of Friedrich Heuson Jun:r late of the Township of Lunenburg, in the County of Lunenburg and Province aforesaid, Yeoman, Deceased, hereunto Annexed, was & proved, Approved And Registered, the said Deceased having whilst living and at the time of his Death, Good’s, Chattels or Credits in the Town and County of Lunenburg, by reason whereof the Proving and Registering the said Will, and the Granting Administration of All and Singular, the said Goods Chattels and Credits, and also the Auditing, Allowing and final discharging the Accompt thereof, are well known to Appertain only and wholy to Us And that Administration of All and Singular, the Good’s, Chatel’s, and Credits of the said Deceased, and any way concerning His Will was Granted to Wilelm Heuson and Jacob Heuson, both of the Township and County of Lunenburg Yeomen, Sole Executors Name in the Last Will and Testament of Friedrich Heuson Jun:r The said Will being first Sworn well and Faithfully to Administer the same, and to make and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods, Chattels, and Credits, and to Exhibit the same into the Registry of Our Said Court on or before, the Thirtieth Day of May in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Seven, And also to render A True Account thereof

Den 5ten Tag des Monaths Aprillis im Jahr Christi 1806 und in dem 46. Jahr der Regirung unsers Allergnädigsten Königs des 3ten von Groß Britianen. Ich Friedrich Heuson in der Countÿ zu Lunenburg, und in der Provinz Nova Scotia, Settler und Innohner in Maohen Bay, befinde mich dem Höchsten seÿ danck beÿ vollkommen guten verstande und Gedachniß, und erinnere nich der Sterblichkeit und vergänglichkeit meines Leibes sehr wohl und weiß daß es Allen Menschen gesetzt ist ein mahl zu sterben; daß wegen vermache und verorden ich hiermit meinen Letzen Wille und Testament auf folgende [weise]. Nehmlich und hangt sächlich vor das erste; Ich befehle meine Seele, in die Hände des Großen Gottes welches die mir gegeben, und meinen Leib zu der Erden; daß solches nach Christliches Gebrauch und gewohnheit auf verordnung meiner hinterlaßen Erben, mag ehrlich begraben werden, nicht Zwei Stelde, das derselbe der [--st], an der Großen Auferstehungs Tage; durch die Allmacht Gottes wiederum Auferstehen und hervorgehen wird; Was aber mein Zeitliches vermögen [en] betrift womit mich Gott in dieser Vergänglichkeit gesagent hat, verodren ich hiermit folgender Gestalt. Nehmlich ich mache und verorden hiermit ausdrücklich
1.) Daß meine hinterlaßene Ehefrau, Catharine Barbara, die helfte Meines Vermögens, und Nachlaßes, es seÿ an Baarshaft Beweg und Unbeweglichen Gütern, von meine verlastenshaft haben soll, und besunders daß Bette und Zweÿ & veirtzig Shilling Stücker in Natura zu Stehen soll.
2.) Gegleichen vermache und orden ich an meine 6 Geshwistern, Nahmens, Wilhelm Heuson, 2/ Jacob Heuson, 3./ Henrich Heuson 4. Joanni Heuson, 5/ Betti Heuson, und 6.) Elizabeth Heuson verehlichte Ochnerin die übrige helfte meines vermögens der gestalt; daß ober wenthe [?] Geshwistern in gleiches [p]art Stehen das eins so viel als das andere bekommen. Da nun die Gebaue so ich auf meinem Lande stehen habe als Hauß, Steüre, so 12 füß Angebauet habe und 2 Ställe welche ich auf mein eigene kosten erbauhet habe, soll versteigert und verkauft werden, viele alles vermuhten nach, daß Land von meinen Vater, welches ich nicht in Deed habe worauf gesesten, hinwiderum zu rück, an den selben fallen möchte, So sollen hinterlaßen Erben, dieses Geld, so die vor die Gebaue lösen zu der verlaßend Shafts Mahse legen, und in die Erdshafts Theilung gehen wie ohne gemeldet, da nun noch Zweÿ Große Länder vorhanden sind als eins in der Pfaltz woran ich nur die helfte, das andern über dem Block Hause woran ich auch nur 4 theil habe, auch noch zu vertheilen sind, welche mit der Condition meine hinterlastene Frau die helfte und die übrigen 6 Geshwister die andere helfte bekommen sollen. Hier mit verorden ich auch in 3 Tage nach meine Todte alle meine Shuldenr in alle Wirthe Haußere sollen angeshlagen werden, zu Befriedigung der hinterlastenen Erben, wie auch in 14t Tagen in der Public Auction alles versteigent werden soll, Wobeÿ ich nun Zugleich alle meine vorhergegangene Willens Meÿnung, Testamente, oder freÿ willige vershreibungen noch mahls bekenne, und dieses allein hiermit vor meinen Lezten Willen und Testament, Ausdrücklich erkläre, ernennen und vorgültig seÿn soll: weswegen Hiermitmeine einige Hand und Besiegelung untersezt, So gestehenden obangeführten dato.

I William Hyson of the Township and County of Lunenburg in the province of Nova Scotia yeoman, being weak in Body but of sound and perfect mind and Memory Blessed be Almighty God for thesame, do Make and publish this my last Will and Testament in Manner and Form following, that is to say, Imprimis, I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me, and my Body to the earth from whence it came to be buried in a decent Christian like Manner, And as for that worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me, after all my Lawful debts and funeral Expenses are paid, I dispose hereof as follows. I Jacob Heyson in the Township of Lunenburg, Province of Nova Scotia, proprietor, have as a good Christian consideration to write my last Will. I am of complete sound of mind (Bless the Lord to Eternity). I experience a weakness of my body and my thoughts are going in the direction that I will give my soul into the Hands of Almighty God and that my body be returned to the earth, in a Christian-like manner, from which it came. Because of the above feelings I am writing my last will and testament. First I bequeath by the authority which is mine to my honoured wife Maria Gertraut Heyson three pieces of land (called the Mill Grant) the House, Barn, Stables and all things and property which I received from my Father Philip Heyson. This is my wish and last will that my wife receive the above after my death, except if she decides to get married again. Second, I leave to my wife all my moveable and personal property in the house, barn, stables, etc. after my death. In case she gets married again then all my property, except what is legally hers, goes to my brother Heinrich [Henry] and his children. Third, it is my will and desire that Ketty Heyson who I adopted receive everything I leave to my wife after her death. But she has to promise that she obeys and isnot disloyal to my wife. Also promise not to take anything that is not legally hers except if my wife gives it to her. But if Ketty Heyson dies before my wife, I wish that Betsey her oldest sister inherit after my wife's death. In case my wife does not grant the inheritance to Betsey, then I wish Betsey's brothers and sisters should receive it. Fourth, it is also my last wish to leave to Johan Michael Berghaus Twenty-five Pounds local currency after my wife's death. He will only receive the above amount if he obeyed and was loyal to my wife. Finally I order and wish that my best friend John Heckman and my wife are the executors of my last wishes. All previous will are recalled and invalid and I Jacob Heyson, herewith state and certify my last will with my Hand and Seal at Lunenburg on the first of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred thirteen.

From the will it appears that Jacob and Maria Gertraut adopted a girl named Ketty. It does not state the relationship between the Heysons and Ketty’s siblings.
