William Rudolf was a merchant in the West Indies trade. He served as postmaster in Lunenburg, N.S. and was Registrar of Deeds for Lunenburg County, N.S. He was elected to the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly from 1826 to 1838. He was elected to Thirteenth Assembly to represent Lunenburg Countyon 6 July 1826 being seated 3 February 1827. The assembly was dissolved on 18 August 1830 upon the death of King George IV. He was elected to the Fourteenth Assembly to represent Lunenburg County on 8 November 1830 and was seated 13 November 1830. The Fourteenth Assembly was dissolved on 2 November 1836. On 12 January 1837 he was elected to represent Lunenburg in the Fifteenth Assembly and took his seat 31 January 1837. He was appointed to serve on the Legislative Council on 16 January 1838, took the appointment on 30 January 1838 and his assembly seat was declared vacant. He served on Her Majesty’s Legislative Council until 1 January 1859 when he died. He was a Justice of the Peace for Lunenburg County from 17 May 1819 until death and was lieutant-colonel of the First Battalion of the Lunenburg Militia. (Elliott, Shirley B.
