Luther Perkins served in the United States Army during the Second World War. After the war, he moved to Santuit and to Hyannis in 1952, both villages of Barnstable, Massachusetts. He worked for White Bros. Milk Co. of Hyannis, Massachusetts and Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Sandwich, Massachusetts for 20 years. In the early 1980s, he established the Osterville and Cotuit Taxi Co. He later purchased Hyannis Taxi, which he owned and operated until retiring in 1999.
