During the Second World War, Einar Zakariassen served with the Norwegian Merchant Marines. The ship on which he served was torpedoed, and he decided to join the Royal Norwegian Navy. After the war he immigrated to Canada in 1947 and worked all his working life with National Sea Products, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. He was a member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 23, Lunenburg, the South Shore Naval Association, Central United Church and the Lunenburg Curling Club.117

After graduation from high school, Michael Rybak joined the Polish Unit of the Royal Air Force and then went onto proudly serve his country as a member of the United States Army during the Second World War era. After the War, he worked for Reynolds Aluminum as a millwright until he retired in 1992. He belonged to the Polish Club of Chicago and the Iris Club, and in his free time he enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his iris and roses. He also enjoyed music and playing the accordion.
