Shirley Nichols attended the Provincial Normal College in Truro, Nova Scotia to receive her teaching diploma and then was able to do every day what she loved doing best which was being in school. She taught in several one room school houses for fifteen years and then Tatamagouche Elementary from 1970 until 1993 at her retirement. Shirley Cameron continued to study throughout her career to eventually receive a T6 teaching license. She was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Branch 64, Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.15
