The Paulsen String Quartet included his brothers Iver on the 1st violin and viola, Christian on the viola and Martin on the 2nd violin. The quartet ended when he was killed in a car accident in 1936.

Helga Marie Elisabeth Jensen emigrated from Denmark to the United States in March 1904. She travelled to the United States via Great Britain with her fiancé Poul Martin Poulsen. When she emigrated, Helga Jensen was residing in Copenhagen where she had been born. Her stated destination in the Danish emigration registration records was to be Boston, Massachusetts.
