Janet Doucette graduated from Melrose Wakefield Nursing School in in 1956 as a registered nurse, starting her career in nursing. Janet Bianculli worked as an emergency room nurse for 21 years at Winchester Hospital in Winchester, Massachusetts. She was an IV Therapist for 21 years at both Winchester Hospital and Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts where she was a founding member of the IV Therapy Team at both hospitals. Janet Bianculli was elected president of Infusion Nurses Society (INS), a national society that develops the standards by which all IV therapists work.

A women's libber before anybody even knew what that term meant, Janet Doucette was confident and independent. Before marrying Bob Bianculli, she made it clear that he should never expect her to do what was considered to be "women's work". He loved this about her and together they shared the household chores. Janet made sure that her son, Kurt, knew how to make a bed, iron and fold clothing because, in her words, "He should never expect his wife to do this for him".

Janet Bianculli deeply enjoyed history, in particular Colonial United States history. She shared her passion for history with her children. She loved to do cross stitch. She entered several pieces into the Topsfield fair's judged competition. Her entries were awarded with many receiving a first place ribbon or best in show. Janet Bianculli was an active member of The Mayflower Sampler Guild of Duxbury, Massachusetts for many years. (Obituary, Barile Family Funeral Homes, Reading, Massachusetts)
